And for one more Saturday, a few stray thoughts and a few general observation and a few points of view (all my own work).
Like another Saturday, another international conference with Mr. Rajiv Gandhi as the star (on Indian TV at lest). And I do not think these conference with our immediate nighbours in South Asia than a conference of non aligned nation or third world national or even the commonwealth nations.
Like my suggestions for improving the relations between India and Pakistan is first to get Pakistan to remove the military dictatorship and establish a democratic government in the country. And to this end the people of India should help the people of Pakistan.
Like I wonder how Doordarshan is going to cover the Congress centenary session in Bombay. It cannot ignore it, because the Congress is a part of the country's history and its completing 100 years is a milestone in India's history (though its completing 200 years will not be). But Doordarshan could overdo the event. I would suggest one long programme and one short programme plus, of course, bits and pieces of the actual session in the news.
And it does seem a pity that the entire historic session, at the moment, instead of focussing attention on economic and political resolution and the party's thrust into the 21st century, seems to have degenerated into detailed reporting of toilets for the Congressmen.
Like for a country that is not one hundredth as industrialised as Japan or West Germany, India seems to be having more than its share of chemical gas leaks.
And what has the Bhopal tragedy turned out to be at the end of one dark year but an international seminar.
Like I still do think India is going to do reasonably well in Australia. We will win the Test series against Australia, two matches to one, but we will end up last in the one-day series. And of course, being world champions may be forgotten for the next ten years.
Like there is a time to win and time to lose. India is now in between.
And this final point of view.
When it comes to the Asian Games, they hold them in Delhi. But if it is the Congress session, they hold it in Bombay. I hope Mayor Bujbal makes a note.
