And, for one more Saturday, a few stray thoughts... (November 22, 1986)

And, for one more Saturday, a few stray thoughts and a few general observations and a few points of view (all my own work):

Like slowly but positively the winter is setting in. the mornings are a little less warm, the afternoons drier, the evenings occasionally patterned with winter skies.

Like the only thing I find of interest in Doordarshan news is the weather report, “Aaj ka taapman”. Formerly they used to get some poor, nervous clerk from the weather bureau to announce it, now the newsreader do it them selves. And, if you are following it you will notice that the least fluctuations in temperatures is in Bombay.

And, I think, it would be correct to say that Bombay is a city of mild temperatures and high Humidity.

Like Mr. Pawar becoming the chief minister is not news. The main story is, when Mr. Pawar becomes the chief minister, what will Mr. Shankarrao Chavan become.

And I do believe it is a little unfair the was they are trying to dump Mr. Chavan. I mean, knowing he is too school-masterish, a little adamant, not a popular leader, they should not have made him chef minister in the first place rather than humiliate him in this manner.

And it must be remembered that when Mr. Gandhi goes to Aurangabad to attend the Congress-S session, he is going as the Congress-I president and not as the prime minister.

And these stray thoughts:

Like I have still not got used to cricket in Sharjah. Winning or losing there does not seem to be official.

And I have also not got used to hockey in a European country. Somehow, even though they may have lost badly, the game is so much associated with India and Pakistan.

And it is silly for the government to claim that it cares for sports when it cannot even provide a few grounds laid with astroturf.

And if Mr. Gandhi, Mr. Arun Nehru and Mr. Buta Singh are to be held accountable, they should be done so for the organisations and staging of the Asian Games, which has turned out to be the biggest negative spending so far with absolutely no fallout, not even more than on astroturf, and no sportsmen, no sports consciousness.

Like now Bombay has three cricket stadia, the Brabourne Stadium, the Wankhede Stadium and the Thane Municipal Stadium. And all the Bombay players are going to Sharjah to play cricket.

And this final point of view:

That my forecast for Sharjah is -West Indies No. 1, India No. 2,
