And, for one more Saturday, a few stray thoughts... (May 19, 1990)

And, for one more Saturday, a few stray thoughts and a few general observations and a few points of view (all my own work)

Like there is a lot of difference between Mrs. Benazir Bhutto and Mr. V.P. Singh. The Pakistan prime minister is personally going from country to country propagating Pakistan's case in Kashmir. The Indian prime minister sends his envoys or, at the most, his external affairs minister.

And I am wondering if Pakistan would not have been better off if it had continued to be ruled by generals.

Life the only way of having free and fair elections in Maham is by first asking Mr. Om Prakash Chautala to resign as chief minister. Then keeping him at Haryana Bhavan is Delhi till the elections have taken place.

Like I can understand Mrs. Gandhi being blind about the shortcamings of her sons. After all, they were young boys. But Mr. Devi Lal's son is old enough to be a great-grandfather and probably is.

Like it would be the height of perversity if Mr. V.C. Shukla were made minister for information and broadcasting.

Like the pace at which men are working on the road repairs in the city, you would think that the monsoon is six months away.

And the car driving into a pit at VT is only the beginning. Once the monsoon breaks and the roads are flooded, all vehicles would be driving into pits and ditches.

Like eventually it may be cheaper to fet our road and subway construction works being contracted out to the Japanese or Germans or Americans.

Like, I understand, the Ambanis have finally decided to close down the paper they did not start.

And poor Mr. Vijaypat Singhania, the Indian Post, in spite of his best attempts to get rid of it, sitting around his nech like an albatross scuulpted out of a millstone.

Like for the country to progress, it is not enough that the Congress has been thrown out of government. It should be thrown out of the, opposition also.

And I will give you this in writing (in fact, I am writing it down). That the next government, whenever, will be BJP, and Mr. L.K. Advani will make the best prime minister we have had.

Like there is nothing wrong with Mr. Chandra Shekhar. What is wrong is with people who take him seriously.

And this final point of view:

That the MRF forecast is 15 days to a cloudburst. I say seventeen-and-a-half.
