And, for one more Saturday, a few stray thoughts... (July 7, 1990)

And, for one more Saturday, a few stray thoughts and a few general observations and a few points of view (all my own work):

Like we did not require Mr. Padmanabhaiah to tell us that the Bombay muncipal corporations is corrupt through and out. We all knew that. But we required him to expose it.

Like a new broom sweeps clean. And this is the newst and could be the cleanest.

Like, I think, this is the absolute end of the Indian Post and efforts to keep it going are pointless. Because, even if throughsome herculean effort it does come out again, it will never succed as a paper. The best thing for the management to is to sell its famous Atex system and divide the money among the staff.

Like the Indian Post is a tragedy, the Business And Financial Observer is a joke.

And I do not know which is journalism's bigger loss: M.J. Akbar joining government.

Like I think Mr. Rajiv Gandhi should object to Mr. V.P. Singh visiting Moscow. That is Mr. Gandhi's territory and his preogative.

And my feeling is that the Congress will return to power, in three or four years, but with Mr. V.P. Singh as its leader and prime minister.

Like Mr. Ramakrishna Hegde should have resigned on the instanct, instead if waiting and waiting and then resigning. The delay has brough down the value of his politics.

And what I would like to know is whether Mr. Devi Lal has recovered from whatever he was suffering and left the hospital or is he still a patient there and occasionally allowed to make small excursions out of the hospital to places around Banglore.

Like if ever there is a case of mailingering, it is Mr. Devi Lal.

Like I think it is very unfair to keep harping on Argentina being a mediore team and not deserving to be in the final. And if it really is that mediocre, tehn the teams that have not made it to the final must be more mediocre.

Like Wimbledon lives on TV this evening leaves me cold.

And this final point of view:

That my forecast for today is Martina Navratilova and England, and for tomorrow Boris Becker and Argentina. And if I get three out of four correct, I have won.
