And, for one more Saturday, a few stray thoughts and a few general observations and a few points of view (all my own work):
Like if you have noticed, the latest cry is for people to resign: Four Judges at the high court should resign, Ramakrishna Hegde should resign, Sharad Pawar should resign, Jagmohan should resign, Om Prakash Chautala should resign. And Chautala seems to be the only person who heeded the demand and resigned (Jagmohan was sacked).
Like there is so much opposition within the National Front and its supporters, that nobody has the time for the opposition of Rajiv Gandhi. And poor Mr. Gandhi, he is really out of it all.
Like the conclusions of the technical inquiry committee in the Airbus A-320 investigations seems to be that the pilots are at fault. And all the recommendations are that they should be better-trained.
Like future air passengers may be divided into two categories: those who will travel by the A-320, when they are put back into service, and those who will not. I belong to the second category.
And one way Indian Airlines may overcome passenger restance is to give 35 per cent discount to those travelling by the A-320s. Then I will belong to the first category.
Like we have been told in great detail about Mr. Devi lal's stay at the Banglore hospital and all the visitors he has been having, but not one newspaper has yet informed us about what he is suffering from that he has been admitted to hospital and how is progressing under the medical treatment.
Like I am all for a national government, but if should be a national government of non-politicians.
Like if you want to cut down on the consumption of petrol, the only way to do so is ration it. So many litres per car, per family. You can't save petrol by closing the pumps on Sundays.
And these stray thoughts:
Like it would be nice to get back to cricket after the World Cup, at least Indian has some stake in it. At the World Cup we are nothing but third party spectators. And who cares whether Italy wins or West Germany.
Like the difference between cricket and footbal is that cricket is a man's game, football is a mainly sport.
And one sport in which men and women play almost equal terms is tennis at the very top level.
Like I really do not know why people have to stay up in the middle of the night to watch football. They can record it, then get up a little earlier than usual in the morning and view the recording, using the fast-forward if the Irish or the English are playing.
And this final point of view:
That all it will take is one single run from the mid-field and down the right wing by Maradona and a swift and sccurate pass to the centre for Argentina to win tonight Amen.
