And, for one more Saturday, a few stray thoughts and a few general observations and a few points of view (all my own work)
Like the managing director of Indian Airlines has resigned, but what about the minister for civil aviation, Mr. Arif Mohammed Khan. And I think it is the minister who should take the blame, even more than the chief executive.
Like the only logical reason for the crash seems to be - computer failed and there was no system by which it could be manually corrected in a split second.
Like I do not know about you but I am going to vote for the Congress and hope that the Janata Dal wins. Or, on second thought, I will vote for the Shiv Sena so that my vote is not wasted.
Like the vote against the Congress would be on two sounts, those who do not care for Rajiv Gandhi and those who do not care for Sharad Pawar.
Like so far on TV, in the nightly election broadcasts by representatives of different parties, I have not come across a single representatvie who has impressed me with his promises, his speech or his looks.
And one silver linning is that if it is a hung house, and none of the parties can form the government, by themselves or in alliance with other parties, and President’s rule is imposed, there is at least an excellent governor at the Raj Bhavan.
Like Doordarshan’s greatest hadicap is not lack of autonomy, but lack of talen. And what autonomy has done is robbed the producers of the excuse that the government was not allowing them to function.
And I shall think the only solution is to get one of the top ads. executive-cum-theatre man from Bombay to head Doordarshan. There are three or four that come to mind instantly.
Like so far the Janata government’s only failure has been the way it has tried to suppress news in Kashmir.
Like poor Bishan Singh Bedi, he thinks he has got a great team under his charge and the team keeps letting him down. And the poor man is in a real fix, because now that he has got Vengsarkar, he may not be wanting him.
And the less said about the progress of our hockey team in Lahore, the more charitable it would be.
And this final point of view:
That god did not design pilots to fly in the air.
